…oh would you be my…

La Familia Green (www.lafamiliagreen.com)

One of my husbands co-workers sent us a thank you card after one of our parties from this company and I’ve since fell in love with them. Out of Chicago, La Familia Green make handmade stationery and journals that are cute & funny inspired by life.

This card above caught my eye because of a recent conversation I had with bride about notifying some of her friends to be a bridesmaid in her wedding next year. A phone call could do but if you are a collector of eclectic assortments of all things good, your friends probably do too so why not give (and receive) a handmade card?

Excursions: Farmers Branch (I think)

This was a GREAT weekend. My first “real” weekend off since, oh, November of ’09?! “Real” in the sense that I really didn’t have anything to do; no holidays, birthdays, no work.  Lulu and I finally went out on our always-talked-about-shoot-date on Saturday. The weather was perfect! No flash floods like every sign on the freeway warned. I brought with me my new Kata waist pack (a.k.a. fanny pack). Lets see… that I’ve had it for about two months and never used it because it felt too big (even though I needed to carry all that it could carry) and too geeky (my visions of junior high + fanny pack = not a fun time in my life brought up “issues”. But it was pretty awesome! With my regular cross-body bag, I would have had to put the bag down to take this shot below. With this Kata bag on my hip, it stayed put while I squatted and leaned forward (and Lulu got a crack-shot with her camera). Now to wear it while riding my bike!!

today’s clippings look so pretty!

quick and easy, spring-time bouquet

Cleaning up the patio today, readying the space for entertaining, I decided it needed a centerpiece. Its just a clipping of my neighbor’s wisteria in a bottle that held really really good ginger beer at one point. To keep it from tipping over on this beautifully breezy day I placed it in an empty Ikea flower pot (I probably bought it for $2 bucks) I had laying around.

I just wanted to share this because I think this would be a very nice, inexpensive DIY table decor with any wildish flower. For a spring dinner party or garden wedding reception!

P.S. it has been sitting out in the bright sun for 3 hours now, and has not wilted!
